He was baptised on 5th March 1787 in the parish church of All Saints, Burstwick, Yorkshire, England. NOTE: There is no village of Skeckling, it is just a parish in the township of Burstwick cum Skeckling. George married [[Sarah Graveline (1787-????) | Sarah Graveline]] on the 2nd February 1817 in the parish church of Holy Trinity, Hull, Yorkshire, England. sometime before 1817 Sarah changed her surname to Smith. George is reputed to have died when his ship was wrecked in a storm off the coast of Nova Scotia in 1831. But evidence has shewn that he deserted his wife and children, moved to the South Shields area where he carried on working but then disappeared from records.
